Trent Theodore cause of death: Chilling twist after Melbourne nightclub promoter dies

A much-loved nightclub promoter has died in hospital following complications from a serious heart condition after he was bashed outside his home in Melbourne’s northwest.

Tributes have flowed for Melbourne personality Trent ‘Blue Eyes’ Theodore after he died suddenly on Monday morning.

It’s understood Mr Theodore was the victim of an unprovoked assault near his home in Airport West on November 14.

Police investigating the incident said they believe he was assaulted as he exited his vehicle on South Road at about 8.30pm.

Police believe Mr Theodore knew his attacker, who fled the scene leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries.

People who knew the nightclub promoter said he ‘never recovered’ after going to hospital with complications from a lifelong heart defect following the assault.

Mr Theodore left a final Facebook post suggesting he sensed something was seriously wrong only a day after the attack.

‘Sometimes in life something happens that rocks you so hard when you’re staring at death in the eyes and not sure if it’s gonna be the last time you see your loved ones!’ Mr Theodore posted on Facebook on November 15.

‘Thank you to those who have been there in the last 24 hrs, I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this but I know with your love and support I will never forget.’

Mr Theodore touched the hearts of many people through his nightclub work, his job as a traffic controller, his CFMEU membership, and his close ties to the Westmeadows Tigers Football Club.

‘It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Trent Theodore, a much-loved member of our Tiger family,’ the club posted on its Facebook page.

‘Trent served our club with immense pride as a former vice president and as a dedicated team manager, including during our unforgettable 2018 Under-18’s Premiership.

‘He was also the first to put his hand up on a Saturday, helping wherever and whenever he was needed, without hesitation and always with a smile.

‘More importantly, Trent was a gentle, loving and selfless man who put others before himself.

‘His kindness and genuine care for our community touched everyone who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
