‘Panicked’: Fans shocked by Todd Woodbridge’s surprise career announcement – as host pens special message online

When sporting legend Todd Woodbridge first stepped into the role of Tipping Point Australia host back in 2024, he never imagined he’d one day be celebrating an extraordinary milestone: 450 episodes on air.

Nearly two years later — and with a Logie Award proudly sitting on his shelf — the tennis champion marked the achievement with a heartfelt message that unexpectedly sent one fan into a panic.

“Episode 450 for me today! I can’t believe how much I’ve enjoyed doing this show!” Todd wrote on Instagram, praising the crew who, as he said, “make every day a joy — and hopefully it shows.”

But the touching post sparked a very different emotion in one devoted viewer, who immediately feared the worst.

“I just panicked… I thought this was an announcement the show was being axed,” the follower confessed in the comments.

Their concern quickly turned into relief as fans flooded the post with love — and admiration for Todd’s hosting magic.

“You don’t realise how incredible you are,” another follower wrote. “Your interaction with the contestants is the highlight of the show. 👏🥰”

And they weren’t alone.
“It really does show! 👏 We absolutely love it — congratulations to you and the whole team!” added another.

“You’re the best presenter on Australian TV right now,” a third chimed in. “Professional, warm, and genuinely caring.”

With support like that, it’s safe to say Todd isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Alongside the milestone post, Todd also treated fans to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of life on set.

“Come and see the magic being made on Tipping Point,” he wrote, revealing he still had four more weeks of filming left before wrapping up the season.

But his success wasn’t always guaranteed. Todd admitted previously that when the opportunity first came up, many doubted whether he could carry the show.

“At the beginning, I felt like I had something to prove,” he told 9Entertainment.
“That’s when my competitive sporting spirit kicked in — I thought, ‘Right, I’m going to work hard and show everyone I can do this.’”

That determination paid off when he took home the 2025 Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter — a moment that silenced every doubter.

And judging by his fans’ overwhelming reaction, this is only the beginning of Todd’s hosting journey.
450 episodes down… and hopefully many more to come.
